This Spring OCAT Xi’an is honoured to present “Shadow Lover”, curated by Xi’an-based’curator Yang Xi, together with works by the artists Gao Suodu, Leng Guangmin, Wang Xiaoqu and Zhang Si. The exhibition “Shadow Lover” was conceived to explore the styles and methods of today’s artists in creating paintings, and making images from “the perspective or notion of photography”.
OCAT Xi’an is honoured to present Amercan photographer Alec Soth’s solo exhibition “The Space Between Us” in China. Alec Soth is described by Mick Brown of Britain’s Telegraph newspaper as “one of greatest living photographers of America’s social and geographical landscape”.
To mark the opening of a new site for OCAT Xi’an, we have selected some especial projects from among the many presented since the founding of OCAT Xi’an in 2013, to offer a retrospective look at our own history. We recreate elements from the biennial exhibition series “About XX”, which took a strong focus on academic research, as well as from our “OCAT Xi’an Showcase” programme which focused on Xi’an-based artists.
The "Feng River Research Plan" is based on the specifics of "place". Regarding the myths, historical materials, literary works, and geographical changes etc., as materials, it weaves together a new contemporary fabric about Xi'an.
This summer OCAT Xi'an is honored to present Xiong Wenyun's solo exhibition. "A Thousand Rainbows" takes a retrospective look at the artists' case studies and is organized by Xi'an-based curator Wang Mengmeng. Following the closure of the OCAT site in Xi'an, the exhibition will take place in Shenzhen in C2 Space, North District, OCT-LOFT.
Based in Beijing, Wu Di has been producing good art, and great exhibitions, for more than a decade. However, she does not want to be known for a single style of expression or form of art alone. And so, her work constantly changes form.
